Tamaqua Seniors
The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met Oct. 24 at the Tamaqua YMCA with 47 members in attendance. President Melody Weicker opened the meeting with the reading of “Saying Yes.”
Returning members Eleanor Schmerfeld, Edith Varano and Rose Vallee were given warm welcomes, as well as new member Elba Dannenfelser.
The group is open to anyone 55 or older, meeting at 1 p.m. every Thursday at he YMCA. The next meeting will be held on Oct. 31 and will include refreshments.
Soup social
Trinity United Church of Christ, 22 Lafayette St., will hold a soup social on Nov. 2. Free soups and fellowship will be available from 4 to 6 p.m.
Participants are asked to use the lower parking lot entrance to the church social hall.
Rush-Ryan Seniors
The Rush-Ryan-Delano Senior Citizens met on Oct. 22 at Christ Church in Barnesville with 54 members in attendance. President Robert Neifert opened the meeting with the reading “Lord Teach Me.” Paul Randig was added to the sick list. New member Helene Richmond was given a warm welcome.
Upcoming events include: Dec. 4, Patsy Kline Christmas show and dinner at Mount Airy Casino; Dec. 10, Christmas party at Capriotti’s, McAdoo.
The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at Christ Church, Barnesville, and is open to anyone 55 or older.
Tamaqua Trick or Treat
From Mayor Nathan Gerace: Tamaqua trick or treat is officially moved to Saturday, Nov. 2, from 6-8 p.m.
The Tamaqua Police will be out in heavy patrol to help keep our trick or treaters safe. Drivers and walkers are encouraged to exercise extra caution to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable evening.
If you plan on handing out candy, please leave your porch light on for trick or treaters.
