Chamber concerts
The Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce has extended dates for its 12th Annual Summer Concert Series, rescheduling some acts that were rained out earlier this summer. The next event will be this Thursday, featuring a rescheduled performance by It Takes Two. The local favorites play top 40s and classics.
The concerts are held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on the platform at the Tamaqua Train Station. All events are weather permitting.
The final event for the 2018 series will be held on Sept. 27, featuring Buddy Musselman, playing classic rock and outlaw country.

Library news
The Tamaqua Public Library will host an adult book discussion at 6 p.m. on Sept. 24. September’s book is “A Fall of Marigolds,” written by Susan Meissner. The novel weaves a connection between two women who once owned a scarf covered in bright marigolds and the tragedies they have witnessed.

Tamaqua seniors
The Tamaqua Senior Citizens held its annual picnic event on Sept. 13 at the West Penn Rod and Gun Club in Clamtown. President Melody Weicker conducted a short business session for the 58 members in attendance.
The meal was catered, with members supplying the desserts. Several prizes were awarded.
The group is open to anyone 55 or older, meeting at 1 p.m. every Thursday at the Tamaqua YMCA.
Bethany EC
The Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 8 and 10:30 a.m. worship services this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Sunday school classes meet at 9:15 a.m.
Activities for next week include: Monday, Celebrate Recovery women’s training at 5 p.m., Celebrate Recovery men’s training at 5:30 p.m., Celebrate Recovery meets at 6:30 p.m.; Wednesday, TYM Remix meets at 6:30 p.m., worship practice is at 8 p.m.
Primitive Methodist
Pastor Rick Clemson will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service on Sunday in American Primitive Methodist Church. Sunday school classes are held at 9:30 a.m.
Also this Sunday, a church luncheon will be held following the 10:45 a.m. service. Participants are reminded to bring a covered dish to share.
Bible study sessions are held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. Hope in the Mountains NFG are held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays.
Zion Lewistown
Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. service this Sunday at Zion Church, Lewistown Valley. Sunday school will be held at 9:15 a.m.
A turkey and waffle dinner will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 6. Volunteers will be needed at 10 a.m. on Oct. 4 to make apple tarts an at noon on Oct. 5 to help set up the social hall.
The Guild will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 4.
