Tamaqua police log

Tamaqua police reported the following incidents:

• Joseph John Carroll III, 27, of Tamaqua, was charged with criminal mischief/damage property and tampering with physical evidence stemming from a July 5 incident.

Police said Carroll damaged a victim’s car stereo and rear door to her home while trying to break in, while disconnecting the surveillance cameras at the residence. A video showed Carroll disconnecting the surveillance system.

• Kimberly Leary, 53, of Tamaqua, was charged with burglary, criminal trespassing, theft by unlawful taking and public drunkenness/similar misconduct after a July 5 incident. A resident of Boyle Avenue called 911 stating that he was in his bedroom and a woman was in his house. He said he did not know who she was or why she was there.

Police a found Leary on the front porch seemingly to be under the influence or narcotics. She was taken into custody. The victim said he thought it was his brother in the house as the door was unlocked. The victim said he heard cabinets being opened and closed but couldn’t find anything missing. However, he noticed Leary drank from the orange juice container in the refrigerator.

• Jordan D. Balthaser, 19, of Womelsdorf, Berks County, was charged with criminal trespassing after a June 28 incident. At 3:18 a.m. police were dispatched to an area of West Broad Street for a breaking and entering in progress. When police arrived a man met them outside and said he and his girlfriend were upstairs. When he came downstairs he saw shoes and a sweater. Eventually, Balthaser was found hiding behind a door upstairs.
