Tamaqua police release reports

Tamaqua police reported on the following arrests and incidents:

• Ryan M. Ellis, 27, Tamaqua was charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and making repairs/selling offensive weapons after an incident on Nov. 22.

Police were dispatched to North Railroad Street for a disturbance. Police spotted Ellis, who matched the description.

After a records check, police found a warrant. When speaking with Ellis, police took a 13-inch knife on Ellis’ side.

Ellis was told that he had a warrant and he was taken into custody. After a search police found a syringe, a marijuana grinder, three glass marijuana pipes with burned residue in them and a small clear plastic vile with a suspected cocaine rock. The suspected cocaine was filed tested with a positive result.

• James Lewis, 51, Lansford, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia and driving without a license stemming from a Dec. 1 incident.

Police were monitoring traffic on Route 209 in the area of Sisters Cantina when Lewis’ vehicle was spotted tailgating another vehicle. After the traffic stop police smelled the odor of burned marijuana. Lewis and his two passengers stepped out of the car. Lewis was advised that he was going to be searched. Upon search they found a purple bag containing a white powderlike substance in his coat pocket. When asked about it, Lewis said, “Oh I’m sorry man, that’s dope.”

Marianne Hauser, 54, Lansford, was the female passenger in the front seat. On the floor of the vehicle in front of her, a black netted bag containing a razor blade, needle cap, a cotton swab and two empty green glassine bags commonly used to package heroin were found. Hauser was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
