Tamaqua swears in new council member
Robert Amentler, left, is sworn in as a member of the Tamaqua Borough Council by borough solicitor Michael Greek. Amentler was appointed to fill the remainder of Councilman Dan Evans’ seat. Evans stepped down at the end of last year due to his work schedule and other community commitments. The vote for Amentler was 4-2, with council members Tom Cara and Mary Linkevich voting no. Cara and Linkevich voiced support for another candidate who applied for the position. Council President David Mace said that having two highly qualified candidates was a good problem to have.
