Teen in Lehigh County ATV crash

Published April 24. 2019 08:32AM

A teen riding an all-terrain vehicle was in a crash along a Lehigh County roadway.

State police at Fogelsville said a 14-year-old boy from New Tripoli was operating a 2005 Suzuki Ozark ATV southbound on Falcon Street in Lynn Township at 8:32 p.m. on April 18. He attempted to turn onto Madison at an intersection.

The left rear tire of the ATV was then struck by the front right bumper of a 2012 Honda Civic operated by Jose C. Ortega, 23, of Reading, who was westbound on Madison.

The ATV spun several times before coming to rest in a grassy area off the eastbound shoulder of Madison. The teen was thrown from the ATV and landed west of the ATV. The teen was not wearing any safety gear/equipment, troopers noted.

The teen was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, by Cetronia EMS. Ortega was not injured.

Troopers said the teen has been charged with stop sign violations, and not having a license, registration and insurance.
