Area track and field teams had plenty of success on Thursday as Lehighton, Northern Lehigh, Northwestern, Pleasant Valley and Jim Thorpe all posted sweeps.

TRACK AND FIELD

Minersville-Lehighton

Lehighton recorded a Schuylkill League sweep of Minersville.

The Indians cruised to a 110-35 win over the Battlin’ Miners on the boys’ side, while the girls scored a 110-39 victory.

In the boys meet, Tahmir Spencer (100, 200) and Joseph Petit-Clair (200, 400) came away with multiple first place finishes for Lehighton. Spencer and Petit-Clair tied for first place in the 200 meters.

In the girls meet, the Indians’ Kaia Slaw had three first place finishes in the girls’ meet, winning the long, triple and high jumps. Karissa Hough capturedthe 100 and 300 hurdles.

Pen Argyl-Northern Lehigh

Northern Lehigh posted a sweep of Pen Argyl in a Colonial League meet.

The Bulldogs recorded a 80-69 win on the boys’ side, while posting a 97.5-48.5 victory on the girls’ side.

Robert Shoff (100, triple jump), Zachary Moyer (long jump, triple jump), Trevor Hoffman (discus, javelin), Reagan Pender (1600, 3200) and Franki Dibilio (shot put, discus) all had a pair of firsts for the Bulldog boys.

Kristen Guelcher (100, 100H, 300H) and Jill Olewine (200, long jump, triple jump) had a huge day for the No. Lehigh girls, both picking up a trio of individual wins.

Northwestern posted a Colonial League sweep of Salisbury.

The Tigers earned a 100-45 win on the boys’ side, and a 97-53 victory on the girls’ side.

A total of 15 different Tigers came away with first place finishes in their events.

Kate Betz (100, 200) and Madeline Consuelos (800, 1600) were the lone multiple winners for the Tigers.

The Bombers came out on top with a 87-49 win on the boys’ side, while the Pirates traveled home with a 112-24 win on the girls’ side.

Jacob Martinez (800, 1600, 3200) had a big day for Palmerton with three first-place finishes. Jordan Nelson (110H, 300H) and Michael Eckhart (long jump, triple jump) added a pair of firsts.

The Olympians edged the Crimson Tide for a 78-72 win on the boys’ side, while the Jim Thorpe girls won 84-66.

Jarrin Geisinger (100, 200) and William Munson (shot put, discus) recorded multiple firsts for the Olympian boys.

In the girls meet, Emma Dunbar (100, 200) and Lydia Wallace (400, 800) led Jim Thorpe.

Nasai Moon (100, 200) had a pair of first as the PV boys beat Dieruff, 95-55 and ES North 109-41.

In the girls meet, the Bears beat Dieruff 125-24 and topped ES North 101-48 as Morgan Covart captured firsts in the 800 and 1600 meter runs.
