Traffic stop results in DUI, drug charges

State police at the Lehighton barracks made a traffic stop for a Motor Vehicle Code violation at 12:45 a.m. Dec. 30, with the stop resulting in the driver of the vehicle being arrested for DUI and both the driver and an occupant facing charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said the stop was made in the area of Kunkletown Road, near Rolling Hills Road, in Ross Township.

Police said it was determined that the driver, a 28-year-old man from Palmerton, was driving under the influence of a controlled substance, and that he and the passenger, a 27-year-old woman from East Meadow, New York, were in possession of drugs.
