The trial of Shawn Christy, 27, of McAdoo, who eluded police for months after he was charged with threatening the life of President Donald Trump and Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli, will not be held next week in Carbon County court as previously planned.

Christy was scheduled to pick a jury on Monday, with the trial to start later in the week before Judge Joseph J. Matika. Christy was to represent himself at the trial. Matika appointed attorney Andrew Bench, of the public defender’s office, to be standby counsel and assist Christy.

However, on Wednesday Matika moved the trial due to scheduling matters for his court.

Jury selection is now scheduled for Sept. 30, with the trial to be held later that week. Christy is facing charges of burglary, criminal trespass, criminal attempt, theft and criminal mischief in an incident on Aug. 23, 2018. State police at Hazleton charged Christy with breaking into a Packer Township building.

Christy has two other pending cases in Carbon which were scheduled for the call of the trial list on Sept. 24 and possible trial starting on Sept. 30. The status of those two cases are now pending.
