Two cited in Tamaqua

A call about a suspicious vehicle in Tamaqua on May 17 resulted in police filing charges against two people.

The call came in at 4:30 p.m., reporting a silver Toyota RAV 4 in the area of Columbia and East Elm streets. There were two people in the car. A man was yelling and swearing and appeared to be searching for something inside and outside the car. The woman in the car got out, dumped her purse on the ground, took off her shirt and lifted up her bra. She then asked the driver if he wanted her to “pull my pants down so you can look there too?”

This was witnessed by two people, one of them a 3-year-old.

The Toyota and its occupants were found on Schuylkill Avenue. The driver was identified as Colin Lee Johnson, 25, of 509 Oak Lane, Tamaqua, with the women identified as Carina Elizabeth Leach, 21, of 425 N. Railroad St., Tamaqua.

Johnson was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after six baggies of suspected heroin were found in his right front pocket. A spoon and two syringes were found in the back seat and a glass container with eight and one-half pills was found just outside the car.

Leach was charged with disorderly conduct and indecent exposure.
