A major fire damaged buildings at Koch's Turkey farm in West Penn Township on Saturday.

A major fire has destroyed a massive structure on the property of Koch's Turkey Farms in West Penn Township.

The blaze was first reported Saturday afternoon just before 3 p.m. Smoke from the fire could be seen for miles. Fire companies from throughout Schuylkill County were dispatched to the scene.

When firefighters arrived on scene they found the wood-frame metal-clad structure fully involved in flames. Due to the remote location of the scene, water had to be tanked into the site. A fill site was established at a fire hydrant in South Tamaqua.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

Koch's is reported to be one of the major producers of turkeys in the commonwealth.
