UPDATE: Pedestrian killed on Route 443 in Mahoning

A Nesquehoning man was killed after he was struck by a pickup Sunday night in Mahoning Township.

Mahoning Township police said that John Marcikonis Jr., 42, was struck by a Chevrolet Silverado 3500 that was traveling west as he walked along the berm of Route 443 in front of Burger King. The incident happened at 10 p.m.

Police said Marcikonis was walking in the traffic lane when he was struck.

The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene.

No charges have been filed.

Route 443 was closed to traffic following the crash.
