A woman was injured Sunday evening in a crash along Route 902, Mill Road in Mahoning Township. The crash occurred just after 6 p.m. as she was traveling south just south of the intersection with Strauss Valley Road.

Mahoning Police said the driver of an Chevy Suburban was traveling north and swerved to avoid hitting a deer. The SUV swerved into the southbound lane, striking the woman’s car.

The car went under the large SUV, with the left rear wheel passing over the car. The car continued south, went off the road and traveled down a steep embankment. The driver was treated at the scene by members of the Mahoning Valley ambulance before being transported to St. Luke’s-Gnaden Huetten campus.

Mahoning Valley firefighters assisted at the scene. Mahoning Township police are investigating the incident.

I remember what they used to tell us in driver education...
Wait, do they do that anymore... Driver Education in Public Schools?
Anyway, never swerve, just hit the brakes, and if the deer gets hit? So be it.
Another thing they taught us was to obey the posted speed limits.
I don't remember them telling us not to text and drive though.
