Valley Pizza in Walnutport opens after 2-year hiatus
It may possess a new look, but the same distinct taste that made it a hit with customers for decades remains.
Valley Pizza held its soft opening Monday and Tuesday at its new location at 503 Old Main St. in Walnutport.
Previously, the restaurant operated from 1976 to 2017 at its former site, 506 Old Main St., which is now a Taco Bell.
“It went better than I thought,” said owner Pat Campano. “Overall, it was good.”
Bart and Pat DeCresce of Franklin Township were among those who decided to check out the new-look restaurant Tuesday afternoon.
The couple said they used to go to the previous restaurant located just across from the new one all the time.
“We’ve been waiting two years,” Pat DeCresce said. “It’s nice.”
While a few items are missing — namely the popular soup and salad bar — Campano said the restaurant still sells soup and salad.
“I knew people were going to miss the soup and salad bar,” he said. “We’re more focused on our dishes being fresh.”
Campano said pasta, pizza burgers, chicken dishes, and wings figure to be among the restaurant’s top sellers.
He said the restaurant plans to continue its soft opening for about 30 to 60 days.
Eventually, Campano said it will sell beer and wine at its bar area.
Campano said the business currently has eight employees, but plans to bring on about six more in time.
“We want our customers to enjoy the freshness and the prices,” he said. “Freshness is important to me.”
