Published May 07. 2018 10:47AM

A vehicle stop has led to criminal charges.

Summit Hill police reported they stopped a vehicle along Route 902 on April 16 at 11:58 p.m.

During the stop a consent search of the vehicle was conducted. Found in the purse of a passenger, identified as Maralys Diaz-Ayala, 27, of Elliger Street in Allentown, was marijuana and a Glock 42 .380-caliber handgun.

Diaz-Ayala was taken into custody and transported to the police station. She provided a written statement admitting the marijuana belonged to her. A records check confirmed that she does not possess a firearm carry permit.

As a result of the stop Diaz-Ayala has been charged with carrying a firearm without a license and possession of marijuana.
