Veterans Day observations

• Jim Thorpe: Carbon County will conduct a Veterans Day memorial service at 1 p.m. Friday in the Josiah White Park, Jim Thorpe. The public is invited to attend.

• Tamaqua: Veterans Day parade, 10 a.m. Saturday.

• Lehighton: Veterans Day parade at 2 p.m. Sunday.

• A Veterans Day ceremony will be held at American Legion Post 927 in Gilbert at 11 a.m. Monday. There will be guest speakers, including state Sen. Mario Scavello, state Rep. Jack Rader and Staff Sgt. Daniel Hauss. American Legion Post Commander Danny Insalata will do the POW-MIA presentation. A light lunch will follow the ceremony.

• The Tamaqua Area Middle and High Schools will be conducting a brief Veterans Day assembly at 7:25 a.m. on Monday in front of the high school. The public is invited to attend this ceremony honoring all veterans.
