W. Penn agrees to buy vehicles for police, road departments
West Penn Township has elected to augment its vehicle fleet.
On a unanimous measure, the township’s board of supervisors on Monday agreed to purchase a total of three vehicles.
Those include two new pickups for the township police department, as well as a smaller plow truck for the township road department.
However, supervisors didn’t decide upon the actual costs associated with either of the vehicles, as those figures are still being worked out.
The vehicles were initially discussed at the township’s initial 2020 budget meeting last month, at which time it met with the department heads of both departments.
Township police Chief Brian Johnson said at that time his department would like to add two new pickups in the amount of $85,000, and have received both five and four-year quotes.
Also at that time, township roadmaster Clint Schock told supervisors his department could use a smaller plow truck that would cost around $85,000.
