Walnutport Borough Council

Published February 03. 2020 11:44AM

Walnutport Borough Council took the following action at its workshop on Thursday:

• Agreed to order a new vacuum street sweeper, and have council President William Turk execute a sales agreement for the piece of equipment.

The borough received $300,000 in Local Share Account grants approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority earlier this month to buy the sweeper.

• Borough grant coordinator Michael Wentz said that the borough hopes to put the South Lincoln Avenue project out to bid sometime this month. Wentz said the borough has $320,000 in Community Development Block Grant funds for the project, and that the borough will apply for another round of CDBG funding.

Since this is a census year, it’s important for residents to participate in the census because it dictates how much money each county will receive.

• Agreed to spend an amount up to $5,000 for the Twin Alley project, with the understanding that the borough will contribute the labor, equipment, and truck.

• Agreed to allow the borough engineer to open the borough’s liquid fuels project for 2020 street improvements.
