Walnutport official asks why she was removed from solid waste committee
Walnutport Councilwoman Patrice Hunsicker has questioned why she was removed from the borough’s solid waste committee on Nov. 1.
President William Turk — who sets who serves on committees — said she was removed from the committee because he didn’t get a call from her concerning the Tamaqua Transfer garbage truck leaking fuel.
Turk also said Hunsicker has been involved in “too much bickering with people on council.”
Specifically, Turk said that Hunsicker and borough emergency management coordinator Mike Wentz have been “going at it” for some time now.
Hunsicker told Turk he removed her from the committee over the incident without her ever being given a chance to tell her side of the story.
She said Turk told her that Wentz brings a lot of money into the borough by way of grants, and that they want to keep him happy.
Turk acknowledged that Wentz does bring in a lot of grant money to the borough in his role as borough grant coordinator.
