A shiny new SUV now rounds out the Walnutport Borough Police Department’s fleet of vehicles.

The department recently took possession of a brand-new 2019 Ford Police Interceptor SUV.

Borough police Chief Pete Wayda said the vehicle came from Kovatch in Nesquehoning.

The vehicle cost $42,187. The borough previously received a grant for $31,440 from Sands Casino gaming money.

With the addition, Wayda said the department now has four vehicles in its fleet.

“It’s nice that we were able to acquire that funding thanks to the gaming grants,” Wayda said. “It certainly helps smaller communities.”
