Weatherly board member to step down from 4-year seat

Weatherly school board member Amy Potsko will take her leave after serving the district for eight years.

“I just want to spend a little more time with my family,” she said Wednesday night at the voting meeting.

Her absence leaves a four-year term seat open, allowing one of the two-year members to accept the term.

Members Girard Fewins, Brian O’Donnell, Shay Wagner and Chad Obert retained their board seats during Tuesday’s election.

Newcomer Wagner, along with O’Donnell, were elected to fill two-year positions, with Fewins and Obert gaining another four years.

Potsko’s seat, a four-year term, will be up for grabs during the December reorganization meeting. Should O’Donnell or Wagner choose to fill the vacancy, Potsko says she would gladly fill the two-year term if the board were to appoint her to it.

A motion was made to send a letter to board member Gerard Grega for his lack of attendance during board meetings.

The motion was followed up with the board agreeing to allow Business Manager Peter Bard, to file civil complaints with the local magistrate against any parent who owes more than $40 in delinquent lunch accounts for the 2016-17 school year.

Letters to parents had been sent in September regarding the issue, and anyone who did not respond to the business office will face a complaint.

The board approved the hiring of Christine Kropp, Joseph Prete and Breanna Weaver to fill the open cleaning aide positions that were vacated in October.
