Weatherly looks into ambulance service
Weatherly Borough council met in regular session for the first time after the local ambulance company ceased operations. At their February meeting, there was a discussion on how to move ahead with ambulance service.
Since the closing, ambulance coverage for the borough has been provided through the Mahoning Valley Ambulance Association.
According to Mayor P.J. Hadzick, the borough ordinance directs Weatherly Borough “to provide ambulance service.”
Proposals for continuing ambulance service have been received from two providers so far, with other proposals expected.
According to borough Manager Harold Pudliner, this is a “unique situation” where everyone in the area used the now closed Greater Weatherly Ambulance.
Pudliner will reach out to the nearby townships of Packer, Lehigh and Lausanne and ask for a meeting of representatives from each municipality to discuss a plan for continuing ambulance service including the townships and the borough, including a review of the proposals.
