Weissport Council discusses zoning permit fees
Weissport Borough Council discussed updating zoning permit fees to match those of neighboring boroughs.
Code Enforcement Officer Tracey Herman noted that the fees for zoning permits are “seven to eight hundred dollars” cheaper than those of peer communities, which, Herman pointed out, is no longer sustainable for the borough because of the increased cost of the “legal fees, zoning officers, court reporters, and advertising fees” associated with zoning permits.
Herman said that she is currently preparing a presentation to give to council with suggested updates.
Councilman Greg May also mentioned that the borough has become lax in enforcing the ordinance which states that residents have 24 hours to remove the snow from the sidewalks in front of their residences, and suggested that Herman work with chief of police Matthew Williams on the issue.
Though the playground cameras have been installed, they are not yet fully functional, as some of the camera hub equipment needed to be returned and reordered due to issues with the equipment.
Mayor Paulette Watson, Solicitor Greg Mousseau and Secretary-Treasurer Jessica Ahner were not in attendance.
