Weissport discusses roads, playground plans

Published June 19. 2018 12:14PM

Weissport Borough Council discusses roads and the playground at its meeting Monday night.

Members discussed possible solutions to combat the everyday wear and tear of local road.

Council also discussed the quality of life ordinance, which addresses certain rules to follow when it comes to property maintenance.

Council will provide police with an extra copy of the ordinance for use on patrols.

The treasurer’s report was approved along with an update that the borough is not currently in the middle of an audit.

Mayor Paulette Watson addressed police records as part of her report.

During their patrols, police record their usual rounds, including what businesses they visit. Watson reported that these patrol records have been received through the month of April.

The Weissport playground was also addressed. Issues about others using the gazebo was solved by passing a motion to transfer park ownership to the borough instead of the recreation committee. The nearby pavilion project is still underway, including plans to add mulch to surrounding areas.

The borough received a letter from BB & T Insurance Services stating that it is changing its name to McGriff Insurance Services. Weissport will continue to hold a workman’s compensation policy through BB & T.

Council also received a revised resolution for the rental of the Chevy work truck from Solicitor Gregory Mousseau.

The resolution between the municipality and the borough that would allow the work truck to be used within the borough for $50 a month was signed and approved.
