Weissport swears in new secretary-treasurer
Weissport Borough Council has selected Jennifer Ketchledge as the new secretary-treasurer, and she was sworn in at Monday night’s meeting.
Ketchledge succeeds former Secretary-Treasurer Jessica Ahner. Ketchledge is excited about her new position, saying it “feels wonderful” to be appointed.
In other business
• The new cameras for the borough playground will arrive on March 11.
• The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection will be visiting Weissport this year to inspect the borough’s levee. Council has also received an updated levee maintenance manual from the Army Corps of Engineers. Council member Thomas Ketchledge is heading the levee activity, and has also been in contact with DEP and the Federal Emergency Management Agency to set up a meeting to discuss a hydraulics study that had been conducted in 2019.
• Weissport Recreation Committee announces its list of events for 2020. Weissport residents can enjoy an Easter egg hunt on April 4, community yard sales on May 23 and Sept. 19, the Weissport Redneck Festival on Sept. 4-6, trick-or-treat on Oct. 28, and a Christmas tree lighting involving Santa Claus on Nov. 28. All events will be held at the Borough Park, except for trick-or-treat.
