Stew needed
The Valor Clinic is in need of Dinty Moore Stew in cans with pull tabs for opening, according to an Effort UMC announcement.
The church will have a box in the narthex to receive any donations.
All Saints Day
Our Lady Queen of Peace Church will offer Mass at 5 p.m. today and at 12:10 and 7 p.m. Thursday in recognition of All Saints Day. There will be no 8 a.m. Mass.
Planet Learn
The Planet Learn Kindergarten family night is slated for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Pleasant Valley Elementary School.
Honoring veterans
At 5:30 p.m. Thursday, a dinner to honor veterans will be hosted by Region 12B of the OES at the Rimrock Masonic Center.
For veterans there is no cost. For others, a request for a generous donation is made to help defray the cost and support the veterans.
Dinner begins sharply at 5:30 p.m. with a Color Guard of local Boy Scouts.

Machine sought
The Needlework Group at Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Kresgeville, is looking for a portable sewing machine. Call the church at 610-681-5191 if you have one in good working order to donate.
Park cleanup
The West End Regional Park Clean Up at 578 Evergreen Hollow Road, Brodheadsville, will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Gloves, vests, bags are provided. Residents are asked to join this effort to remove litter from the roadways surrounding the community park.
It can be a wonderful community service project for groups, families and businesses.

The West End Food Pantry in Kunkletown will be open from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
Worship walk
Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran Church will be doing a 10 a.m. worship walk at Tobyhanna State Park Saturday.

Art exhibit
Former educator Don Baylor is the featured artist in the Joy in Nature art opening at the Monroe County Conservation District’s Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center opening Saturday.
The opening reception is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The exhibit runs through Nov. 29.
This show will contain oil and acrylic paintings of landscapes and fishing scenes from the Poconos and Rockies, places where the artist has been inspired by nature while hiking, fishing and paddling.

Beading workshop
Eldred Township Community center will be the site for a beading workshop with Jill Elizabeth, the famous Liztech jewelry designer from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Pork & sauerkraut
Effort UMC will hold its annual all-you-can-eat pork and sauerkraut dinner from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

All Saints’ Sunday
Salem-Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church, Kresgeville, will celebrate All Saints Sunday with Holy Communion at its 8:15 and 10:30 a.m. services Sunday. In addition, Confirmation class will be held at 9 a.m. and Holy Baptism will be part of the later service.
Socktober concludes
During the month of October, McMichaels UMC has been collecting new socks for the homeless.
The focus month ends this Sunday. All sizes — men’s, women’s and children’s socks can be donated this Sunday.
Veterans Day event
A Veterans Day parade will be held in Stroudsburg on Sunday. Anyone who will be participating from the West End can meet at 9 a.m. at American Legion, Post 927 in Gilbert.
REACH fundraiser
This Sunday Effort UMC is hosting a paint party to benefit the youth REACH mission team. All supplies are provided, as well as some light refreshments. Take a picture home that day. It begins at 2 p.m. at the church in Wesley Hall. For cost and to register, call the church at 570-629-1890. The event is open to the first 30 people who register. Call the church office to register.
Three foods sale
A filling, apple dumpling and celery seed sale is schedule at Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Orders must be in by this Sunday.
The sale will be on Nov. 16.
