Effort pantry

Supplemental Food Resource Center at Effort UMC will be open from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. It serves areas such as of Effort, Gilbert, Kunkletown, Kresgeville, Brodheadsville, Saylorsburg, Sciota and Albrightsville on an emergency basis. Identification is required.

Praise services

Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Kresgeville, will have a praise service on Sunday at both 8:15 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday. The second service will include Sunday school, Caring for Creation talk and Kids Kollection.

Confirmation class will meet at 9 a.m.

Soup sale

Effort UMC is accepting orders for its homemade soup sale through Monday, including sausage minestrone and creamy broccoli and cheese. Delivery is on March 3.

Polk Supervisors

The Polk Township Board of Supervisors is slated to meet Monday at 7 p.m. at the municipal building in Kresgeville.

Knit & Crochet

A Knit & Crochet group, meeting at Zion Lutheran in Brodheadsville, will gather at 1 p.m. to ply some needles in service to others.

Newcomers are welcome.

WE Republicans

The West End Republican Club, meets regularly on the fourth Tuesday at the Lakeside Restaurant, 5154 S Hamilton Blvd, Saylorsburg. This month’s meeting will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Those wishing to eat before the meeting should arrive by 6 p.m.

Republican-minded citizens are encouraged to join in to socialize, listen, discuss and learn.

Night of Unity

The Pleasant Valley High School will once again host a Night of Unity from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Many organizations will be participating. The snow date is 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 27.

Animal League

The monthly meeting of the Monroe Animal League will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Eastern Monroe County Library, Route 611/North Ninth Street, Stroudsburg.

MAL promotes spay/neuter and humane education as a way to control pet overpopulation, and thus relieves cruelty and suffering among animals.

Maple Sugaring

Each year the Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center conducts tours of its Maple Sugaring site in Marshalls Creek in February and March for schools, Scouts, home-schoolers and other interested groups.

Dates this year for organized groups have been set for this coming Monday through March 8. There is a cost per participant and scheduling is done on a first-come, first-served basis.

A public Maple Sugaring Day will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 2.

Appreciation banquet

The Monroe County Conservation District is teaming up with Penn State Extension to co-host the Annual Farmers Appreciation Banquet on Saturday at the Polk Township Fire Hall in Kresgeville.
