PVE STREAM Days
The students at Pleasant Valley Elementary School are involved in STREAM days (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, the Arts and Math) Feb. 5, 6 and 7, a change from it to being held this week due to weather.
The activities begin around 9:15 a.m. each day and go until about 2:30 p.m., with a break for lunches from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to PVE Assistant Principal Sabrina Albright.
In addition to the STREAM activities, these days also highlight the meaningful collaboration with the high school. More than 25 Pleasant Valley High School students are joining for the STREAM days to help facilitate the event.
Response needed
Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Kresgeville, is having an indoor worship walk at the Schisler Museum of Wildlife and Natural History, a museum at East Stroudsburg University, at 1 p.m. Saturday. The entrance fee includes a movie in the planetarium. The church will cover the cost of church children and youth. For costs for seniors and youth over the age of 18 and to make a reservation, contact Pastor Scheffey today at scheffey@ptd.net.
The snow date is Feb. 9.
Ticket purchase due
The Western Pocono Community Library is holding a fundraiser, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms vs. the Hartford Wolf Pack ice hockey teams at the PPL Center in Allentown.
Tickets must be purchased by Thursday.

Chestnuthill Seniors
The menu for the Chestnuthill Seniors, meeting at Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville on Wednesdays and Fridays, for the regular lunch and the lighter lunch are: Friday regular, tuna noodle casserole/peas, stewed tomatoes, whole wheat bread, tropical fruit. Lighter fare, garden salad, three-bean salad, orange, whole wheat roll and yogurt. Next Wednesday regular, pork loin and apple gravy, mashed potatoes, sauerkraut, whole grain dinner roll, banana. Lighter fare, Italian antipasto, carrot sticks, mandarin oranges, yogurt/juice.
Participating senior eaters must call the site manager by 11 a.m. the day before at 570-242-6770.

Community breakfast
Our Lady Queen of Peace Church is hosting a community breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday.
Art exhibit
Monroe County Conservation District’s Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center is hosting an art opening featuring Andrea Henley of Monroe County on Saturday. The opening reception will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The exhibit runs from Friday through Feb. 28.

Throat blessing
Our Lady Queen of Peace Church will celebrate the feast of St. Blaise, who was bishop of Sebaste in Armenia in the fourth century, on Saturday at 4 p.m. and on Sunday at all Masses.
Souper event
Each year Effort UMC’s Missions Team and Supplemental Food Resource Center, the church’s food pantry, sponsor an appropriately named Souper Bowl on Super Sunday.
The church will have soup pots in the narthex for donations of canned goods such as canned fruit, canned pasta, canned vegetables, canned sauces, etc. and nonperishables. There will also be a little competition involving the teams playing in this year’s Super Bowl. Each soup pot will have a team name so attendees can vote for the favorite by placing their donation in that particular pot. Donations need to be in by Sunday.
SAL meeting
The Sons of the American Legion will hold its monthly meeting at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Legion Post Home in Gilbert.
At 5:30 p.m. the Legion Post Home will have a Super Bowl party for members and guests. It is a covered dish event so sign-ups should be made at the post.
Reassessment meeting
Pleasant Valley High School auditorium, Brodheadsville, will be a site for a Monroe County Assessment Office-Tyler Technologies special public meeting/hearing from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday. The snow date is Tuesday.
