Prayer Shawl group
Effort UMC’s Prayer Shawl group will again be meeting Tuesday. They begin their day at 10:30 a.m. and plan to continue until some time after lunch.
Anyone who knits or crochets is welcome to join the ladies.
Ross supervisors
Ross Township supervisors meet on the first Monday of the month. The next meeting is at 7 p.m. Monday at the township municipal building on Anchorage Road in Saylorsburg.
Chestnuthill Township
The Chestnuthill Township Board of Supervisors meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the municipal building in Brodheadsville.
West End Fair planners
The Pennsylvania Association of County Fairs was held at Hershey Motor Lodge from Jan. 23-26.
The West End Fair was represented by several officers and directors in addition to the West End Fair’s 2018 Fair Queen, Katarina Frantz. There were 59 queens from fairs all over Pennsylvania competing for the title of Miss PA Fair Queen. The process of planning the 2019 entertainment, included seminars on fair entries, rules and regulations, and many round table discussions were held throughout the event.
Information session
The Penn State Extension Master Watershed Steward Program in Monroe County is training a new class in spring of 2019. People who have an interest in the environment, a willingness to learn more, and most importantly, a strong desire to make a difference in the community are being sought.
To become a certified Master Watershed Steward, one must complete 40 hours of training and fulfill 50 hours of volunteer service. After becoming certified, maintain the status by giving at least 20 volunteer hours and attending at least 10 hours of continuing education annually.
Information sessions about the program will be held on the following dates at the Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center: 7-8 p.m. Feb. 5 or noon to 1 p.m. Feb. 9.
The 2019 training program will begin on March 14 and continue on subsequent Thursdays from 6 to 8:30 p.m. through May. The sessions will be held at Kettle Creek Environmental Center with several hands-on Saturday field trips throughout Monroe County.
Comedy Night
American Legion Riders present Comedy Night, featuring Wisecrackers Comedy, on Feb. 9. Catering by Vincents Deli & Catering, Tannersville. Dinner is from 5 to 7 p.m. Comedy will be presented from 7 to 9 p.m.
Dancing will take place from 9 to 11 p.m. Only 150 tickets are available. Raffle baskets and 50/50 will also be part of the evening. For tickets and costs, contact Everett Shaver 570-977-8208 or everett.shaver@yahoo.com.
The event will take place at the American Legion Post 927 Main Hall, 646 Fairgrounds Road, Gilbert. Doors open at 5 p.m. One must be 21 or older to attend.

Qualifying homeowners may take advantage of Monroe County Habitat for Humanity’s home preservation, which provides for low-cost, deferred payment, volunteer-based home repair.

West End Park & Open Space Commission is offering discounted ski tickets for Blue Mountain, Jack Frost/Big Boulder, Shawnee and Elk Mountains. Tickets are available at the Chestnuthill Park office, 221 Route 715, Brodheadsville.
