Auxiliary tonight
The West End American Legion Auxiliary is meeting at 6 p.m. today at the Legion Post Home 927 in Gilbert.
Altar & Rosary
The Altar and Rosary Society of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church will meet tonight due to Thanksgiving. It will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the cafe.
Zion Seniors
The next gathering of the Zion Seniors is at 11 a.m. Thursday in the church’s fellowship hall in Brodheadsville. Attendees are reminded to bring a sandwich. Beverages are provided.
Eldred planners
The next meeting of the Eldred Township Planning Commission will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the township municipal building.
WELL meets
The West End Little League will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Chestnuthill Park Building in Brodheadsville.
Meetings are open to all.
Lunch choices
Chestnuthill Seniors, meeting at Zion Lutheran Church’s Fellowship Hall as part of Monroe County Seniors, can order Italian fish over orzo for Friday. Next Wednesday all Senior Centers are closed, including the West End one.
For meal reservations, the site manager has to be called by 11 a.m. the day before at 570-242-6770.
Bingo night
The West End Park and Open Space Commission will host bingo night Friday, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Chestnuthill Township Park in Brodheadsville. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
There will be specials, pull tabs and door prizes.

Drama production
For three days this coming weekend, the Pleasant Valley Drama Club is presenting “You Can’t Take It with You.” The first presentation is at 7 p.m. Friday and the second at 7 p.m. Saturday. The third is at 2 p.m. Sunday. All will be performed in the high school auditorium by a cast of 21 student actors under the direction of Dan and Marcie Mulligan, with production assistance by Donna Morris.
Tickets can be purchased at the door.
Clothing swap
The Pleasant Valley School District winter clothing swap will be held at Pleasant Valley Elementary School on Saturday.
Saturday service
Youth from St. Matthew’s UCC in Kunkletown are being asked to help at the West End Food Pantry from 8:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Those age 12 and up are encouraged to volunteer with Staci Gower, coordinator of Christian formation. A parent or adult must stay with each child who is age 12 to 16.
Duties will vary from helping clients push their carts to the car and unloading bags into the trunk to helping inside handing out food.
Christmas bazaar
Monroe Animal League will present its annual Christmas bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, in a new location at The Fraternal Order of Eagles, 1210 N. Fifth St. in Stroudsburg.
There will be lots of bargains and adorable Christmas gifts and ornaments and gift items for the dogs and cats on one’s Christmas list.
All proceeds benefit the animals of Monroe County, and help fund the spay/neuter programs that Monroe Animal League Supports.
The cash raffle ticket drawing is at the Christmas bazaar.
Worship walk
Salem-St. Paul’s in Kresgeville will have another worship walk this Saturday. It will be held at 10 a.m. at Tobyhanna State Park.

Fall drive
Operation Touch of Home will be holding its fall drive for the military serving overseas at Kinsley’s in Brodheadsville Saturday and Sunday.
LAMA meeting
The Latin American Motorcycle Association, Pocono Chapter, is holding its monthly meeting at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Legion Post Home in Gilbert.
Social hour
Salem UCC in Gilbert has a social hour Sundays after its 10 a.m. worship service.
Supper
Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Gilbert, is the site for a Community Sunday Supper from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Wreath-making
On Sunday, beginning at 5 p.m., family and friends of Effort UMC will be making Advent wreaths. A potluck dinner will precede the wreath making.

Bikes needed
No Kids Without Bikes is in need of two girl and two boy 12-inch bikes to enable the group to fulfill its promise to youth in the West End.
They can be dropped off at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Gilbert.
Polk Supervisors
The Polk Township Board of Supervisors will hold an early meeting on Monday. It begins at 6:30 p.m., at which time the proposed budget for 2019 will be presented. The regular meeting of the board follows.
Diversity Task Force
Pleasant Valley’s Diversity Task Force will meet at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the District Office.
PTO meeting
The Pleasant Valley Elementary School PTO will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the school.
Chestnuthill supers
The Board of Supervisors for Chestnuthill Township will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the municipal building in Brodheadsville.
The township Planning Commission is slated to meet at 7 p.m. Nov. 21.
Chili cook-off
The West End Home Association is looking for a new house chili recipe. A Great Chili Cook-off will take place at the Post Home in Gilbert Sunday.
All prepared entries must be at the Post Home by noon. There is a fee for the tasting event from 1 to 5 p.m., and a cash prize will be given the winner.

Canceled meeting
The Eldred Township Board of Supervisors meeting set for Tuesday has been canceled. The next meeting of the board will be at 7 p.m. Dec. 5.

At 7 p.m. Tuesday, the PTSD Support Group will meet at Legion Post home 927 in Gilbert.

Thanksgiving dinners
• The American Legion Post 927 in Gilbert is hosting a free community traditional Thanksgiving dinner, with all the trimmings, on Thanksgiving Day, for those in need, serving from noon to 4 p.m.

Breakfast fundraiser
A breakfast fundraiser will be held at St. Matthew’s UCC in Kunkletown in the fellowship hall from 10:15 to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 25.
The menu includes scrambled eggs, pancakes, toast, sausage, fresh fruit, baked goods, juice and coffee. There will also be raffle prizes. Sunday school teachers, students and parents are needed to help in the kitchen, set up, clear tables and other tasks.
Blood drives
With the holidays ahead and many folks on the road, there may be a greater need for blood. American Legion Post 927 in Gilbert is holding an American Red Cross drive from 1 to 6 p.m. Nov. 30. Both Power Red and regular blood donations will be accepted.
Blood drives by Miller-Keystone at the Western Pocono Community Library in Brodheadsville are also a way to give. Those drives take place on the first Wednesday of the month, beginning at 7:30 a.m. and on the third Wednesday of the month, beginning at noon.

Holiday party
The West End Democrats Club holiday party will be held beginning at 6 p.m. Dec. 2 at the West End Fire House on Route 715 in Brodheadsville.
There will be food, musical entertainment by Roy Ramos, gifts brought by attendees and a free wine tasting. Donations of small gifts are appreciated.
There is a cost for adults and children ages 6 to 12. It is free for children of attendees under the age of 6.

NYC Christmas show
The West End Park and Open Space Commission is sponsoring a bus trip to Radio City Music Hall for the Christmas Spectacular at 2 p.m. Dec. 6.
The bus departs at 8 a.m. from Chestnuthill Park in Brodheadsville and returns at 7 p.m.
