Blood drive
A Miller-Keystone blood drive will be held at the Western Pocono Community Library today, beginning at noon.
Altar & Rosary
Our Lady Queen of Peace Church’s Altar & Rosary will meet at 6 tonight.
Submarine Vets
The U. S. Submarine Veterans, Pocono Base, meet regularly on the third Wednesday of each month at the Wilson Fisher American Legion, Post 413, Old Route 940, in Pocono Pines, Pennsylvania. They are a local chapter of the national organization U.S. Submarine Veterans Inc.

Zion Seniors
Zion Lutheran Church’s Zion Seniors will meet at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church complex in Brodheadsville. Attendees are asked to bring a covered dish or dessert to share as it is the group’s turkey luncheon. Beverages are provided.
Meeting change
The November dinner meeting and board meeting of the Western Pocono Lions Club will be held Thursday, at Cherry’s on Route 209 in Kresgeville. The club will meet in the large backroom, on the side of the building toward Route 534.
The board will meet at 6 p.m. and the members can begin to arrive at 6:30 p.m. and should order dinner off the menu with the dinner meeting at 7 p.m. A reminder that all members are encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item to the meeting to be given to the PVEN food pantry, or one can simply feed the Purple Pig at the dinner meeting. Also, members can bring items for the Leo Club collection for Touch of Home, with those items being sent to members of the armed services.
Eldred Planners
The Eldred Township Planning Commission is slated to meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the municipal building in Kunkletown.
C’hill Seniors
Chestnuthill Seniors is part of Monroe County Seniors. The group meets in Zion Lutheran’s Fellowship Hall from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays. Lunch must be ordered by 11 a.m. the day before. This coming Friday seniors can enjoy fish almandine and next Wednesday it is roast turkey.
Donations sought
Effort UMC’s Supplemental Food Resource Center is in need of items such as canned yams, turkeys, turkey gravy, turkey broth, stuffing mix, frozen pie crust or box pie crust mix, canned vegetables, potatoes, pie filling for its Thanksgiving outreach to families in need. All donations must be brought to the pantry before Friday.
Bingo night
The West End Park and Open Space Commission will a host bingo night Friday, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Chestnuthill Township Park on Route 715 in Brodheadsville. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
There will be specials, pull tabs, door prizes, refreshments and more.
PV production
The Pleasant Valley High School Drama Club fall production of “Our Miss Brooks” is at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday in the high school auditorium.
This heartwarming comedy is performed by a cast of 20 enthusiastic student actors under the direction of Dan and Marcie Mulligan with production assistance by Donna Morris.

Fall drive
Operation Touch of Home is holding its fall drive from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Kinsley’s ShopRite in Brodheadsville.

Needed are donations for those care packages as well as names and addresses of any deployed military member currently serving in hostile areas overseas.
Clothing swap
Pleasant Valley School District will host its winter clothing swap beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant Valley Elementary School in Kresgeville.
The clothing swap is open to all parents/guardians of students in the Pleasant Valley School District buildings. To participate, parents may bring standardized dress clothing, shoes, winter coats and boots in good condition to any of school district building’s front offices.
All items are to be clean. Vouchers will be received for the amount of clothing brought in.
Clothing will be accepted for the swap through Thursday.
Families can then bring their vouchers to the Pleasant Valley Elementary cafeteria, where they will be able to exchange the voucher for clothing and/or coats and shoes in the correct sizes for their child/children on Saturday.
Leftover clothing will be donated to the Cub Closet.
Pantry volunteers
St. Mathew’s UCC notes that volunteers can work from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the West End Food Pantry at the Community Center in Kunkletown.
Men’s Group
Effort UMC’s Men’s Group will meet again from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday.
Holiday baskets
For families that registered for Thanksgiving dinner boxes at Effort UMC last Saturday, this Saturday is pickup day from 9 a.m. to noon. There will be no pantry on Nov. 25; however, items such as bread or produce will be available while supplies last. There will be no carriers that day. Holidayfest
The Western Pocono Lioness Club is holding a new event, Holidayfest. It is a unique buying experience featuring various vendors, tricky tray, baskets, handmade and handcrafted items as well as professional creations and pocketbooks.
Holidayfest will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Chestnuthill Park Building on Route 715 in Brodheadsville. There is an admission charge. For more information, call Lioness Carol at 610-554-8755.
Advent meal
Salem UCC, Gilbert, is holding a 5 p.m. Advent meal on Saturday for the community.
Serving others
McMichaels will hold its Sunday worship service at 9 a.m. and then work in the Stroudsburg UMC soup kitchen later that day.
LAMA meets
The Latin American Motorcycle Association will meet at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Legion Post Home in Gilbert.
Thanksgiving focus
Salem UCC in Gilbert will focus on Thanksgiving this Sunday. The sermon will be Living in the Light. The worship service begins at 10 a.m.
Community service
A community Thanksgiving service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Neola UMC, a member of the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network. The offering will benefit the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network.
Wreath making
Effort UMC will host a family Advent wreath making event Sunday, beginning at 5 p.m. A potluck dinner will precede the wreath making.
