PTO meets
The Pleasant Valley intermediate School PTO will meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
Bird seed deadline
The Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center is gearing up for its fall bird seed sale in a variety of blends and sizes. Also available will be black oil sunflower seed, thistle, suet and several other specialty mixes.
A wide variety of high quality bird feeders, including some of which are squirrel proof, will also be offered in the gift shop. All proceeds from the sale of bird seed and feeders go to support environmental education programs.
Ordering deadline is Thursday. Pickup is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 3. Obtain a complete order form by calling the center at 570-629-3061 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday and most Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Download the order form from www.mcconservation.org. Prices are reduced for this truckload sale, but bird seed is also sold in the gift shop along with a wide variety of feeders and field guides year-round.
School board
The Pleasant Valley School District is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Administrative Center in Brodheadsville.
Seniors lunch menu
For seniors attending the Chestnuthill Senior Center at Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville, the menu choices for Friday and next Wednesday are omelet for Friday and turkey tetrazzini for Oct. 31.

Church campout
The Royal Rangers of Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church in Brodheadsville will be having a father and son campout at the church from 5 p.m. Friday until 10 a.m. Saturday. There is a per-boy cost.

Banding continues
Monroe County Conservation District’s Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center’s Project Saw-whet Owl Banding Program with Pocono Avian Research Center along with Pocono Avian Research Center will host the fourth season of Project Owlnet.
The station will be open to the public from 8 to 10 p.m. this Friday.
Donations are welcome at the event and preregistration is suggested.

Scarecrow time
Build a scarecrow then parade around the Ross Township Park, Saylorsburg, on Saturday as the West End Park & Open Space Commission hosts the annual pet costume parade at noon.
This year scarecrows are invited to join the fun. Build a scarecrow from 10 a.m. to noon, then join the pet parade. The straw and frame will be supplied. Participants should bring clothes, accessories and imagination.
There will be prizes for both the pets and scarecrows, including for: Most Original, Funniest, Traditional Scarecrow, Owner Look-a-Like and more.
After the parade, scarecrows can be taken home or displayed in the park.

The Effort UMC Supplemental Food Resource Center will be open from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Another cleanup day by Pride in Chestnuthill volunteers has been announced for Saturday.
Legion events
The American Legion Post Home will be busy place Saturday. For children who are previously registered, the auxiliary is hosting a children’s Halloween party beginning at 11 a.m.
For the bikers, a Halloween Bike Night is will be held beginning at 3 p.m. It will include Empty Pockets Band, food, awards for Best Theme Bike Award, best adult and best children’s costume, treats for kids and more.

Trunk or treats
• Eldred Community Center in Kunkletown will host a trunk or treat event from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
Come with your family or group, decorate your trunk and have some fun. Donations of candy are always needed as well.
• Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Gilbert will hold its trunk or treat from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the church parking lot.
PV Family Night
The Pleasant Valley Elementary School and the Pleasant Valley Intermediate school will host STREAM Night from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
MC Animal League
The monthly meeting of the Monroe Animal League will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Eastern Monroe County Library, Route 611/North Ninth Street, Stroudsburg.
MAL promotes spay/neuter and humane education as a way to control pet overpopulation, and thus relieves cruelty and suffering among animals.
Monroe County animal lovers are encouraged to attend.
