PVI PTO
The Pleasant Valley Intermediate School PTO meets at 6 p.m. Thursday.
Thursday meeting
The West End Democratic Association meets on the fourth Thursday monthly at the fire house on Route 715 in Brodheadsville, PA 18353. The next meeting is at 7 p.m. this Thursday.
All area Democrats are welcome to discuss upcoming elections, and learn about current issues of interest to the party.
Regional meeting
The Chestnuthill, Jackson, Eldred, Ross, Polk Regional Comprehensive meeting will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Chestnuthill Township municipal building on Route 715 in Brodheadsville.
School Board
The Pleasant Valley School District board of directors will meet in public session at 8 p.m. Thursday in the Administrative Office in Brodheadsville.
Senior menu
Stuffed cabbage rolls are on the menu for Chestnuthill Seniors Friday luncheon at the Zion Lutheran’s Fellowship Hall in Brodheadsville.

Fair time
On Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., a craft and vendor fair will be held at the Eldred Township Community Center in Kunkletown.
Effort pantry
The Supplemental Food Resource Center at Effort UMC will be open from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Spooky days
Quiet Valley, Monroe County’s living historical farm, will host Spooky Days on the farm Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
On Friday and Saturday the hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. There will be a murder mystery and everyone is invited to figure out whodunit. There will also be other strange things happening.
On Saturday and Sunday afternoon, from 1 to 5 p.m., there will be some not-so scary activities, including a wagon ride, crafts, singing and dancing and other surprises.
Spaghetti dinner
The West End Fire Company in Brodheadsville is hosting a spaghetti dinner from 3 to 8 p.m., Saturday.
Children under 5 eat free.

Ham dinner
The Order of the Eastern Star is serving a ham dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Rimrock Masonic Center in Bartonsville.

Halloween events
• Build a scarecrow then parade around the Ross Township Park on Anchorage Road in Saylorsburg, on Saturday. The West End Park & Open Space Commission will host the annual pet costume parade at noon.
This year scarecrows have been invited to join the fun.
Build a scarecrow from 10 a.m. to noon then join the pet parade. The straw will be supplied, but participants must bring a frame, 3 feet minimum height to 5 feet maximum height, clothes, and accessories.
There will be prizes for both the pets and scarecrows. They include most original, funniest, traditional scarecrow, owner look-a-like and more.
After the parade, scarecrows can be taken home or displayed in the park.
All pets are welcome.
• Trunk or treat will be held at Eldred Township Community Center from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Bring a bag or bucket to collect goodies and see how cool each car has been festively decorated. The center’s address is 516 Kunkletown Road, Kunkletown.
• A Halloween party for adults only will be held Saturday at the American Legion Post 927 from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Members are asked to sign up at the bar and bring a covered dish.
• Our Lady Queen of Peace Church will hold its trunk or treat event for its families from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the parking lot.
• Trick or treat in Eldred Township is set for 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
• The annual Halloween party at St. Matthew’s UCC in Kunkletown will be held 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday. Children are encouraged to come in costume. Kids and teachers will play a game, have snacks, paint pumpkins, hear a story, and parade through the church hallway.

• In Chestnuthill Township it is trick or treat and trunk or treat at the Chestnuthill Township Park, Brodheadsville, from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
Businesses, groups and families are welcome to participate and join the fun. They can decorate a park building window, gazebo or one’s own car and hand out treats to the kids in a safe environment.
There will be a costume contest for kids 12 and under, including scariest, funniest, cutest and most original.

• The West End Fire Company is holding a trunk or treat event from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Brodheadsville firehouse.
It is a free Halloween event.
