West Penn names new secretary
A Rush Township administrator has been tabbed as the new secretary in West Penn Township.
After a brief executive session, West Penn supervisors on Monday unanimously to hire Katie Orlick as township secretary at the rate of $17.50 an hour, not to exceed 40 hours per week, effective Nov. 13.
Orlick has been secretary-treasurer for Rush Township, and was reappointed at the rate of $17 an hour at their reorganization meeting in January.
As part of her role with West Penn, Orlick is expected to attend all township board of supervisors and planning commission meetings.
Orlick was hired to replace Patricia Nothstein, whom West Penn hired in March as part-time secretary as needed, at a salary of $10 an hour.
West Penn Supervisor Tony Prudenti said after Monday’s meeting that Nothstein gave the township her two weeks notice several weeks ago.
Nothstein had been hired to fill in for former full-time secretary Bobbijean Muffley, who went out on disability leave.
That came several weeks after West Penn appointed Herb Woodring as a temporary secretary at the rate of $12.75 an hour while Muffley was out.
In August, West Penn supervisors accepted the resignation of Muffley, and also approved a settlement agreement with Muffley in which she was to be paid $10,000 as part of the agreement.
At its reorganization meeting in January, West Penn approved Muffley as township secretary at a salary of $29,700.
