It was a night of recognition on Monday as West Penn Township supervisors honored one individual and members of an organization for their contributions to the community.

The West Penn Township Lions Club, along with Marlin Zehner, West Penn Park Commission, were presented with Certificates of Appreciation by the township’s board of supervisors.

Board Chairman Tony Prudenti acknowledged all the West Penn Lions Club has done for the community.

“What the Lions Club has been doing for our township has been unbelievable,” Prudenti said.

Supervisor Tim Houser echoed that sentiment.

“They’ve just done a tremendous job,” Houser said. “I can’t commend the Lions Club enough for what they’ve done for the community.”

Also recognized for his community activism was Zehner, whom Prudenti said is the glue that holds the park together.

“The hours he’s donated, the things he’s donated to the park,” he said. “Marlin, I can’t thank you enough for everything you’ve done for us.”
