Maj. Carla A. Wiese, the education and training flight commander, 5 Medical Group, Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota, was promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel on Sept. 1.

Wiese is a 1992 graduate of Marian Catholic High School. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Wilkes University in 1996 and was a member of Air Force ROTC while at Wilkes. She was commissioned into the Air Force Reserves in January 1997, and after 10 years of reserve service transitioned to the active component in September 2006.

Wiese completed a Master of Science in nursing education from Walden University, Minneapolis, in 2012 and a postgraduate certificate in health professions education from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Baltimore, in 2018.

She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in nursing education.

Wiese has completed four tours of duty in the Middle East and one in Europe.

She is married to Matthew Wiese, who retired from the Air Force in 2014; and they are the parents of their daughter, Alexis. Wiese is a native of Weatherly and is the daughter of Anna Marie Lencovich of Lehighton and Joseph Lencovich of Weatherly.
