Woman arrested at Halloween event

Rush Township Police picked up Melissa Schartel, 54, on an outstanding criminal warrant when she showed up under the influence at the community’s annual Trunk-or-Treat Halloween event Oct. 26. She was also cited for public drunkenness.

While investigating the public drunkenness incident, a records check confirmed that she was wanted by the Schuylkill County Detective’s Office for an outstanding criminal warrant.

She was transported to the Schuylkill County Prison, where she was lodged pending a hearing in common pleas court.
