Woman cited after hitting ditch

State police at Lehighton investigated a crash at 4:05 p.m. on Thursday along Forest Inn Road in Towamensing Township, Carbon County.

Troopers said Grace L. Hillard, 78, of Kunkletown, was driving a 2018 Kia Sorrento northbound and negotiating a left curve when she looked in her rear view mirror and observed a rear door partially open. She slammed on the brakes and the rear end started spinning clockwise. The vehicle went off the road and onto the shoulder, hitting a ditch. The front bumper then hit a tree.

Troopers said Hillard had a suspected minor injury but did not require immediate medical attention. She was cited for the crash.
