Woman injured in crash in Franklin Township

A woman was seriously injured Saturday morning in a crash in Franklin Township.
The incident occurred shortly after 10 a.m. as the woman was operating her car northbound on Indian Hill when she was struck broadside by a pickup traveling west on Red Hill Road. The impact drove the car off the roadway into an embankment.
The woman was trapped in the wreckage before being freed by members of the Franklin Township fire company.
She was treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics before being transported to an area trauma center. The condition of the driver of the pickup is unknown.
Franklin Township fire police maintained traffic control at the scene. State police at Lehighton are investigating the incident.
