Woman injured in Mahoning crash

A woman was injured Saturday morning  in a crash along Route 443 in Mahoning Township.

The crash occurred at 6:30 a.m. as she was traveling west at the intersection with Country Club Road.

The woman told authorities she swerved for an animal that ran across the roadway in front of her. Her car entered the right berm where it mowed down a sign and picket fence.

She continued across Twin Hills Drive where her vehicle came to rest in a ditch adjacent to a field.

She was treated at the scene by members of the Mahoning Valley ambulance before being transported to a local hospital. State police at Lehighton are investigating the incident.
