Woman killed in Schuylkill crash Sunday morning
A Schuylkill County woman died in a two-vehicle crash that occurred at 12:40 a.m. Sunday along Aristes Road in Union Township.
State police at Frackville identified the victim as Candice Fisher, 37, of Ringtown.
Troopers said Fisher was operating a 2000 Dodge Neon while negotiating a slight left turn. She then drove over the right fog line onto the north shoulder. The Neon then came back onto the road and began to spin counter-clockwise, crossing the double yellow line and into the eastbound lane and into the path of a 2016 Ford Focus operated by Christopher L. Kowalski, 38, of Ringtown. The two vehicles collided in the eastbound lane. After impact the Neon continued to slide off the south side of the road and struck a small ditch. After hitting the ditch, the Neon flipped onto the driver side and came to rest. The Focus spun counter-clockwise and slid into the westbound lane and came to rest facing west.
Fisher was pronounced dead at the scene. Kowalski was not injured. Both vehicles had to be towed.
The road was closed for about two hours.
