Person injured attempting to jump on train

A man was injured when he attempted to ride a moving train in Weissport.

State police at Lehighton reported that the incident occurred at 2:27 a.m. Friday along the railroad tracks at Forge and South Railroad streets, in Weissport, Carbon County.

Troopers said a suspect, who they declined to identify, was trespassing on the tracks owned by Norfolk Southern Railroad Corporation.

Police said the suspect had a major injury to his lower left leg. The suspect was treated at the scene by Lehighton ambulance personnel and then transported to St. Luke’s Hospital in Fountain Hill for further medical evaluation.

Troopers added the that railroad company police will be investigating the trespassing incident further.
