A driver is in custody and a police officer injured after a high-speed chase Sunday night in Carbon County.

The incident started in Lehighton about 9:30 p.m. when a borough police officer attempted to stop a vehicle on Iron Street.

The driver fled west on Iron, where he made a left turn onto south Ninth street. He then turned right onto Route 443 west into Mahoning Township to the village of Normal Square where he then turned left onto Fritz Valley Road.

The chase then turned left onto Church Hill Road in East Penn Township, traveling to Route 895. The driver turned left onto Route 895 east into the borough of Bowmanstown.

He then fled east on Route 248 into Palmerton where he then turned onto Mauch Chunk Road racing back into Bowmanstown where he encountered a flat front tire.

He pulled into the Bowmanstown Diner parking lot and ran from the car. The man was taken into custody and then evaluated by Lehighton paramedics before being transported to a hospital.

The officer was also transported to a hospital for treatment of his injury.

DO/T2C- formerly expelled for vulgar posts, here you go again trying to link politics with unrelated events. The only link is your mental illness. You are a rude ignorant cyber bully. Keep it up.
Big Jean should be glad the suspect didn't get shot by one of those self firing guns. She doesn't need 2 cover ups before Election Day!
I get your point KM but you do know Carbon Co. has much more listed as GOP voters and that should tell you where the majority stands on theee Police.
Now the Log Cabin part, I'm not getting, with the GOP attitude today, will probably be like the book says RIP - GOP.
