State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks said more than $5,000 worth of tools were stolen in a burglary that was reported to them at 8 p.m. Oct. 3.

It happened at 750 Ann St., Norwegian Township. The victims are Hayden Electric, Hazleton, and Happy Construction, Gordonville.

Police said the crime occurred when unknown people entered a construction site and used a torch to gain entry to a steel container that was used to store the tools.

Police said the people removed a Honda 6500 generator valued at $2,000 and about 100 feet of bare 4/0 copper wire worth $400.

The perpetrators also broke into a nearby shed on the property and removed another Honda inverter generator valued at $1,500, and various other power tools (Makita electric nibbler and electric shears worth $300 each). They also stole retractable fall arresters worth $1,000 and a gasoline can full of gas valued at $30, before fleeing the scene.

Nah, GTONUT, any self respecting heroin addict would have hocked the torch rig used to cut the lock. Heroin addict theives use battery operated grinders, bolt cutters and smash and grab techniques. This bloke was a rookie, working their way up to pro. Luckily for the people, they were dumb enough to steal things with serial numbers.
