A Palmerton woman faces drug charges after police stopped her for a traffic violation.

Jessica Davis, 24, faces charges of manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver; conspiracy — manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture of delivery; and deliver/intent to deliver drug paraphernalia.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by officer Gabe Szozda of the Lehighton Borough Police Department:

At 10:48 p.m. June 2, Szozda and officer Trevin Green observed a black Honda Civic traveling west on North Street.

The vehicle was occupied by two women and its registration plate light on the right side wasn’t working.

Green and Szozda attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the vehicle quickly pulled over on Mahoning Street, and the passenger got out of the car and began walking away. Police ordered her to get back into the vehicle, but she replied that she was never in the vehicle and only came up to the front passenger side window to speak with the driver.

Police discovered the driver, Davis, had outstanding warrants out of the Carbon County Sheriff’s Department and the Lehigh County Detective’s Office.

She had $120 in her bra.

During the investigation, the female passenger gave police a false identity. Police determined she was Ashley Baldini and she had outstanding warrants out of the Schuylkill and Lehigh County Sheriff’s Departments.

Davis gave consent for her vehicle to be searched and told Szozda that there were empty heroin bags and used syringes in the vehicle.

Police discovered Baldini’s purse had an Ajax powder bleach bottle, which had a false bottom that twisted off.

Once it was twisted off, police found a Ziploc bag containing a crystal-like substance, which weighed 21.2 grams and tested positive for methamphetamine, a Schedule 2 Drug; six glassine bags with residue; 10 glassine bags of suspected heroin; and three orange-capped syringes and used cotton filters.

A blue book bag was located behind the passenger seat. Inside the bag was a small purple pouch, which contained a clear plastic bag with 22 glassine wax bags; nine used syringes; cotton swabs; two needle caps; one rubber band; a metal tin containing loose rice; one clear bag containing a crystal-like substance which weighed 0.4 gram and tested positive for methamphetamine, a Schedule 2 Drug; two glassine wax bags containing suspected heroin; a skeleton eyeglass pouch that contained 10 small clear baggies; one spoon with residue and a filter on it; two clear bags with filters; one clear bag with residue; and 17 torn glassine wax bags.

Police found a black Michael Kors leather bag containing an electronic scale; a spoon with residue; two needle caps; a syringe; one torch lighter; and one matchstick lighter.

Police also found a cheetah print backpack containing a cheetah print pouch that contained four syringe caps; a leather pouch with a lighter; one spoon with residue; two Cionazepam tablets; one Guanfacine Hydrochloride tablet; one Ondansetron Hydrochloride tablet; one cotton swab; 38 empty glassine bags; 10 clear plastic bags; and 18 used syringes.

A box of 47 unused syringes was discovered in the trunk of the vehicle.

Davis said that the packaged unused syringes belonged to either the vehicle owner or another man.

When Szozda asked if she and Baldini had any plans on selling the meth, Davis said, “If I could, I would. I told Ashley if I can get some sales I’d help her.”

Davis admitted using meth and heroin on a daily basis. She said she did “speedball” (injecting heroin and meth at once) hours before driving.

A blood test which showed methamphetamine, amphetamine, fentanyl, and norfentanyl.

Davis is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing at 4:20 p.m. Aug. 15 before District Judge Eric M. Schrantz of Jim Thorpe.

Davis is in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 straight bail.

Comments
Amazing how the drug cop can pull someone over for a minor equipment violation and score 21 grams of meth. I wonder which CI told him it was in the vehicle.
The article mentions that the girl had $120 in her bra. Did she give it up or was it found during a pat-down by the MALE officer which is a BIG NO NO. Criminal defense attorneys live for mistakes like this.
