Troopers in Schuylkill to increase enforcement

Published August 22. 2018 09:00AM

State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks reported they will be increasing enforcement patrols on county roads over the upcoming weekend.

Citing the fact that every year, thousands of people get hurt or killed in alcohol and controlled substance-related crashes in the commonwealth, police said they are committed to making the state’s highways a safer place on which to travel.

Accordingly, troopers will be increasing DUI patrols, to include a sobriety checkpoint, looking for operators of vehicles who are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, and take appropriate action against them.

Police said the results of the increased patrols will be released after the reporting period has concluded.

Comments
"looking for operators of vehicles who are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs" which really means "pull you over for a minor equipment violation and use reasonable suspicion or probable cause to determine whether or not you are under the influence of drugs/alcohol." Also, "if we don't like you we will plant empty baggies in your vehicle and charge you with possession of paraphernalia."
