Area police responded to the following incidents:
State police at the Lehighton barracks said the driver of a vehicle that was stopped for a Motor Vehicle Code violation was suspected to be driving under the influence of alcohol.
Police stopped the 2010 Nissan Rogue at 2:11 a.m. Dec. 29 at the intersection of Mahoning Mountain and Upper Nis Hollow roads in Mahoning Township.
Police said charges against the driver are pending the results of laboratory tests they administered.
• Cheryl Ann Mellner, 55, of New Tripoli, has been charged by state police at the Fogelsville barracks on a charge of harassment/physical contact.
The charge stems from an incident at 3:38 p.m. Dec. 29 at a residence on the 6000 block of Lentz Road, New Tripoli.
The victim is Jacob George Mellner. Police said the woman grabbed/pulled his beard, knocked off his glasses and caused a laceration to his right hand while threatening him.
• State police at the Lehighton barracks are investigating a theft by deception case. A 38-year-old Coplay man reported a case of identity theft at 12:12 p.m. Dec, 27 from a residence on Interchange Road in Towamensing Township.
• David Fish, 52, of Saylorsburg, is facing charges of violating a Protection From Abuse order after state police at the Stroudsburg barracks were summoned at 2:32 p.m. Dec. 23 to a site at the intersection of Lake and Upper Cherry Valley roads in Hamilton Township.
Police said the victim, a 50-year-old woman, also of Saylorsburg, reported Fish violated he court order via text messaging.
• State police at the Stroudsburg barracks are investigating the theft of a 2018 Yamaha YZ250 dirt bike.
The victim, a 29-year-old resident of Ramsey, New Jersey, reported the theft took place between 7:30 p.m. Oct. 11 and 8 a.m. Dec. 14 at 1396 Main Road in Middle Smithfield Township.
The bike is valued at $7,000.
