Lehighton man with numerous suspension counts gets jail time
A Carbon County man, who has eight convictions for driving while under suspension, was sentenced to a county prison term on Friday on a driving under the influence charge and another driving under suspension arrest.
Jeffrey Scott Levan, 50, of Lehighton, appeared before President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II to enter a plea on a DUI count in which there were 19 continuances filed. He was arrested by state police at Lehighton on July 4, 2015.
Nanovic sentenced on both counts to serve 30 days to six months in prison, with the terms running concurrently. On the DUI charge, he was fined $300 and another one year license suspension imposed.
On the suspension count, he was fined $1,000. Nanovic also imposed a zero tolerance for drug or alcohol use. He must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole.
He will begin serving his prison term at 10 a.m. on Feb. 16 and serve it on consecutive two-day periods of Sunday to Tuesday.
