A Mahoning Township home was decimated by a rapid-moving fire Wednesday morning.

The fire broke out at around 11:15 a.m. at the home at 50 Manor Lane East, according to Jay Michalik, assistant chief, Mahoning Valley Fire Company.

According to scanner reports, a passer-by saw flames coming from the roof of the home, which was completely engulfed in flames.

“Upon arrival, we found a fully-involved dwelling fire,” Michalik said. “Due to its location, without hydrants, we needed to establish a water supply.”

He said no one was inside the home at the time, and there were no injuries they were aware of.

Michalik said the cause of the fire is under investigation by a state fire marshal.

Also assisting at the scene were the Lehighton Fire Department, Franklin Township Fire Department, East Penn Township Fire Department, Bowmanstown Fire Department, and Jim Thorpe Fire Department, as well as Mahoning EMS.

Michalik commended all who volunteered their efforts.

“It was great cooperation working with all the neighboring towns,” he said. “It was a great, quick response by volunteers.”
