LEAF accepts nominations for 2020 Graduates of Distinction

The Lehighton Education and Athletic Foundation is currently accepting nominations for the class of 2020 “Graduates of Distinction.” The program is designed to recognize notable alumni of the Lehighton Area School District who have achieved success in their occupational field, or who have served their community or humanity in a positive way.

Applications may be submitted by anyone who thinks a candidate is worthy for admission to this “prestigious group of graduates.” Applications are available on the LEAF website, www.LEAF-Foundation.org, or by contacting Hugh Dugan at hdugan@ptd.net, or Tim Tkach at ttkach@lehighton.org. Applications may also be obtained at the Larry Markley Insurance Agency at Fifth and Coal streets in Lehighton.

Completed applications can be mailed to LEAF, c/o Awards Selection Committee, P.O. Box 370, Lehighton PA, 18235. The deadline for submitting applications is March 31. A submitted application will remain as an active nomination for two years after it’s originally submitted.

A seven-person committee of educators consisting of educators, businessmen and professionals will select the inductees. Three to five nominees are be selected each year. No more than two members will be selected posthumously per year. Nominees selected for membership will be notified by April 30. Inductees will be honored during a reception on June 16 at the Lehighton American Legion Home. They will have information displaying their accomplishments highlighted on the Graduates of Distinction Wall of Honor in the Lehighton Area Elementary Center.
